*Applications may be mailed or brought into the Foundation office. If mailed, envelopes must be postmarked on or before February 1, 2013.

*It is not necessary to put applications in any type of plastic binders.

*Multiple applications may be submitted in one envelope.

 


 

For All Students in Custer County

 

ALCC Scholarship Program

$4,000 - $1,000 each Year for a Child/Grandchild of Employee of ALCC to a 4-Year Nebraska School

$2,000 - $1,000 each Year for a Child/Grandchild of Employee at ALCC to a 2-Year Nebraska School

 

Must be a child/grandchild of an active Adams Land & Cattle Co. employee at the Broken Bow locations, who has worked a minimum of 90 days of employment w/ the company as of the annual deadline date for the scholarship.

Students must have a 3.0 GPA

Parent, grandparent or legal guardian must be on the Adams Land and Cattle Co payroll when award decisions are made. Stepchildren & legal wards are eligible if they are dependents & claimed on the Adams Land and Cattle co. employee�s tax return or employee benefits plan.

Must be a high school senior who plans to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited college or university, for 2-year or 4-year. (Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.)

Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester and submit grades.

Employment status is for initial eligibility only and not for ongoing payment of scholarship.

Scholarship will be paid in the second semester.

Student currently enrolled in college are ineligible to apply for the Adams Land and Cattle Co Scholarship Program.

  • Must be a senior at a Custer County High School or a student resident in Custer county and attending a school in a contiguous county.

Frank & Marjorie Bartak Memorial Scholarship, $1,000

  • Must be a senior at a Custer County High School
  • Must write an essay of approximately 500 words on "Freedom Isn't Free"

Becton-Dickinson Scholarships, $1000.

  • For children of current B-D (Broken Bow facility) employees
  • Applicant must have a "C" average or above
  • Applicant must demonstrate leadership or significant involvement in school or civic organizations.
  • Two scholarships will be awarded for 4-year degree program
  • One scholarship will be awarded for technical degree

Burger & Cruise Scholarship, Three Scholarship at $500 each

Current graduating senior at any Custer County high school

Must be active in the community, school, church

Scholarship will be based on NEED over anything else

Three scholarships will be awarded

Hazelle Jacobsen Headley Cole Scholarship, $1,000

  • Senior at a Custer County High School
  • Student residing in Custer County and attending a school in a contiguous county
  • GPA of 2.5 and rank in top 30% of class
  • Must be planning a career in education

Waleta L. Gies Memorial Scholarship, $250

  • Senior at a Custer County High School
  • Student residing in Custer County attending school in a contiguous county

McMeen Physical Therapy Scholarship, Two at $250 each

Must be a graduating senior from a high school in the following counties: Custer, Dawson, Valley, Rock, Loup, Blaine, Garfield, or Greeley.

Applicant may be a student currently enrolled in college & majoring in Physical Therapy.

Must specify in Biographical Narrative why you want to become a Physical Therapist.

Field of Study: Pre-Physical Therapy

GPA: 3.5

Lucile A. Schmitz Memorial Scholarship, $1,000

Must be a senior at a Custer County High School or a student residing in Custer County attending school in a contiguous county

Must be entering a 4-year degree program at a Nebraska institution

Must have a written recommendation from a Teacher in the Music Department or other music instructor

Field of Study: Music

  • Must be a graduating senior of a Custer County High School
  • Must have been employed at Grocery Kart for at least one full school year
  • Applicant must be in good standing with Manager of Grocery Kart.

1952 Football Team Scholarship, $1,000

  • Must be a student at Broken Bow High School or attending college having graduated from Broken Bow High School
  • Must have participated in school's football program at least senior year
  • Show financial need and may not be attending college on an athletic scholarship
  • Those attending 2-year trade school may also apply
  • Applicants may reapply during college/trade school years if doing well academically

Adams Land and Cattle Co. Scholarships, 2 at $1,000 each

Must be a senior at a Broken Bow High School

One scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a 4-Year Nebraska school

One scholarship will be awarded to a student entering a 2-Year Nebraska school

  • Have a GPA of 3.0
  • Priority will be given to students planning to study Agriculture or Business
  • Student must describe in Biographical Narrative how they have demonstrated leadership or significant involvement in a school or civic organization
  • Scholarships will be paid the second semester of Freshman Year

Russell Adams Jr. Memorial and Angenette Adams Scholarship, 2 at $250 each

  • Must be a senior at Broken Bow High School

Scholarship paid 2nd semester of freshman year after verifying a 3.0 GPA for the 1st semester.

Financial need considered.

  • entering junior year in Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Non-Traditional Scholarships

The Custer County Foundation, Inc. will accept, at anytime, grant applications from non-traditional students who wish to pursue higher education through coursework at colleges, community colleges, tech schools, vocational schools or etc. The application will be reviewed and grants awarded to eligible students within two months of receipt. Scholarships are not intended for current year graduating students. Applicant must be a resident of Custer County.
